Well here we go again!

It's January and time to get the plot back in order after its months of neglect while I was fishing.

What's first. Well the goal this year is to improve the infrastructure of the plot. To Start with I am in desperate need of a shed, lugging the tools and everything else needed on the plot every time I visited it in 2003 was a real pain. So I have invested in one of the old sheds from a vacant plot all that is needed now is to dismantle the thing, move it to it's new home and erect it, put a new roof on it, put a new floor in it and replace the roofing felt used to protect the walls. The roof I intend to put on is a clear corrugated plastic type so the shed will twin as a potting shed. Not a lot of work then?

Next I want to line the beds with wood. The string and canes I used last year did a good enough job but no matter how much you tried not to trip over the string it happened. Also I want to raise the depth of the beds by adding lots of home made compost.

It was my intention to build wooden composting bins but I do not think I will have the time to do this in 2004. So I am liberating a plastic type composting bin I already have at home and I will acquire another for the plot. The other type of bin I really need is a couple of water buts which will collect the water from the roof of the shed. To add to this I am going to introduce a stand pipe in the center of the plot to help making watering of crops such as Sweet Corn etc much easier and the need for a extra long hose pipe will be eliminated.
Oh and before I forget grow some lovely crops along the way and find time to fit in my job as a Retail Manager.
